What is NLP ?
Neuro Linguistic Programming
NLP was originally created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970's. They developed an attitude and methodology by studying experts Milton Erickson (Hypnotherapy/psychiatrist), Virginia Satir (Family Therapist), Frits Pearls ( Founder of Gestalt Theory) and Gregory Bateson (Anthropologist). This gave birth to a hugh resource pool of life changing techniques and skills to afford people a better quality of life. NLP incorporates both the philosophy and cognitive behavioural psychology approach to change. Many people think of NLP as an owners manual for the human brain. It is the science of how the brain codes learning and experience. This impacts on all we do and how we perceive the world. If you know how your brain works you can change it so it always works for you in improving your life and the lives of people around you. Neuro (Brain & Nervous System) The neuro part acknowledges that all behaviour stems from our neurological processes known as VAKOG, what we see, hear, feel, smell and taste. Fundamentally we experience the world through these senses and then act upon the information based on our personal perception of it. Linguistic (Language Skills) The linguistic part acknowledges that we use language along with other none verbal forms of communication to communicate with others. The quality of which has a major impact both upon ourselves and others we communicate with. Programming (Automatic Programs & Unconscious Habits) Everything we do can be categorised as one of these. If our programming is unhelpful to us then NLP has techniques and skills to facilitate change. Like wise, our programming can be put into a formula/strategy and taught to others for their benefit. Some Applications include: - Change your personal history - Eliminate limiting/negative beliefs - Create enpowering beliefs - Modelling and expert - Personal growth Confidence & drive |
